Tipacon Derby Party

Join Us for Our First VIRTUAL ABWA Tipacon Derby Party!  We are featuring Julie Krone, first woman to win a Triple Crown race. She will talk about her experience as a woman jockey!  Julie Krone (from Michigan!), is a retired American jockey. In 1993, she became the first female jockey to win a Triple Crown race when she won the Belmont Stakes. Among her lengthy list of wins and prestigious awards, she is the first woman inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, and a Sports Illustrated cover athlete.  

Kelle Hruska and Nikki Boisvert will demonstrate how to make a Mint Julep! Recipe will be provided so you can make one along with them!  

We are excited to bring back our Derby Hat Contest! If you chose to participate (and we hope you do), we ask that you send a picture of your hat to abwa.tipacon@gmail.com by 17APR21. Win, Place and Show for best hats will be provided. 

Remember to wear your Derby Hat during the event!  Brush up on your Kentucky Derby TRIVIA knowledge as we will be sharing some of the Kentucky Derby history throughout the event!
