2017 New ABWA Annual Theme!  Take Flight in ABWA!

December 29, 2016

A butterfly begins life as a caterpillar, which spends its entire existence consuming the sustenance that will nourish it for a long time.  At the right moment it makes a chrysalis within which it will undergo one of the most miraculous transformations in nature.  Eventually, it struggles to free itself from its self-made protection and emerges as one of the most beautiful creatures on earth - the butterfly.

The butterfly emerges from it chrysalis and soon takes flight into an entirely different life from its obscure beginnings.  We call the process a "metamorphosis," which is exactly what your ABWA experience is designed to engender.

Women are drawn to ABWA because they are seeking a change. Each desires a personal metamorphosis into a new phase of their careers by learning new skills, facing down personal fears, developing leadership abilities, learning to collaborate with peers and enjoying each others' company. Each is seeking to be the best that they can be.

In many respects, ABWA is the protective chrysalis where members are safe to try new approaches in dealing with their jobs, their employers and co-workers. ABWA is a welcoming sisterhood where members are allowed to make mistakes, learn from them and build on the experience in a safe and secure environment.

Soon our members become inspired.  They work to break out and Take Flight, showing the world their brilliant colors and the confidence necessary to face any new challenging situation.

ABWA is changing women's lives...one woman at a time.  Take Flight in ABWA in 2017!

Tidbits and Tools

Executive Director René Street and the 2015-2016 National Board of Directors/SBMEF Trustees will present “ABWA Tidbits and Tools” to ensure that league leaders have the knowledge, attitude, skills, and habits they need to manage their group effectively. Giving and Receiving Feedback and Constructive Critism

Every time two or more people get together to discuss anything, an opportunity exists to either build relationships or damage them. So when it comes to discussions that require absolute clarity (feedback) and/or potentially sensitive subjects (criticism), it is important that you are skilled enough to handle whatever comes your way—regardless of which side of the table you happen to be sitting.

Handling Conflict and Confrontation for Women

In just one day at this workshop, you will gain skills that will benefit you throughout your entire career—and throughout your life.
